There's a baby coming!!

Kevin's friends Brandon & Angie are expecting a baby in June and they're naming her Ariel. I know that it has nothing at all to do with my name but I like to believe it does. They requested a knitted blanket and a hat. Baby items are so easy and quick so I made a few extra items. I can't wait to give them their "stuff."

Ta da.......... mystery project complete!!

Dona's taking the hat with her on her Alaskan cruise. It should keep her head nice and warm. The pattern can be found here.

Our next mystery project starts in just over one week.

WIP Wednesday

Quilting homework done and I'm ready for class tonight.

Here's a closeup of one of the squares although the colors aren't entirely accurate. It's darker than the top picture but lighter than the bottom picture. This is what I get for taking photos on my living room floor at 8pm.

Speed Knitting

We had a knitting race on the Mystery 220 group. So much of the country was shut down for a few days that we decided we needed something to amuse ourselves. Luckily I live in a place that has beautiful weather but I wanted to show my support. Our race was scarves vs cowls and I was in the cowl group. One would think that the cowls would go faster, they seem easier right? One of our members even counted the stitches on the scarf and on the two sizes of cowl just to make sure it was somewhat fair. The scarves almost won. We pulled ahead right at the end though. I'll never need a cowl where I live but this was a great pattern and I have a friend who is going to find it in her mailbox soon.

January Mystery Knit Revealed

FINALLY I can show what one of the mystery knits for January was. We had two for January, this adorable little beaded bag and some beautiful mittens. I opted out of the mittens but I'm so pleased with this bag. When I'm out and don't want my purse it'll be big enough for my keys, cell, and some cash.

Right now we're doing a mystery that will be complete in time for Valentine's Day and we'll start the February KAL in just a few short days. I've already finished the February one and I loved everything about it.

Ugly dishcloths

I've been in a Yahoo knitting group for many years with a wonderful group of women. Every now and again we have some sort of swap. We decided that we should do a Valentine themed dishcloth swap. My partner is my dear friend Karen. I don't think Karen reads my blog so I'm writing about it now even though she won't see these for another couple of weeks. The thing about Karen is that she won't use gifted dishcloths because she says they're too pretty. I want my dishcloths to be used so I made them ugly on purpose. I purled, yarn overed, and made random cables and bobbles. I think these are the funnest dishcloths I've ever made.

Please note that they are red for Valentine's Day. I believe I kept to the theme. I can't wait to hear what she says when she sees them.

Mystery Knitting

My friend Heather and I started a Ravelry group. We do one or more mystery KAL's per month using 220 yards or less. It's been so much fun so far. The only problem is that I finish something and can't post anything about it until the group has the final clue. I've got January's and February's all finished yet here I sit and wait. Two more weeks and I can show January.

If you want to join the group and are a member of Ravelry, click here.

My DH never asks me to knit anything so I was very surprised when he offered a chemo cap to a friend of his whose wife just found out she had breast cancer. Apparently he's quite proud of my knitting.

Nathan sporting his new hat.

Crystal sent me a picture of Nathan wearing his hat with his dreds tucked in. Considering I made the hat up as I went along, I think it came out great.

If you look really close you can see Crystal wearing her snood in matching yarn.

Thanks for the great picture Crystal!!

So much knitting, so few blog posts.

Sheila's shawl........... I LOVE IT and hated to give it away.

Crystal requested a hat for her friend. He's got a headful of dreadlocks so he needed something wide and longish to tuck them all in.

Sammy's beanie

Sammy's beret

Robin's scarf.......... Kitty Kitty wanted to be in the picture.

Dona's Christmas Ornament

Kevin's black beanie - he lost the first one.

Heather's Santa Hat Ornament

Don's Santa Hat ornament

Heather's Sledding Beanie

This was from my Mystery 220 group in Ravelry. It ended up being a Christmas gift for Marsha.

Alberto requested a Santa hat for his 4 month old son.

Thanksgiving Week

I made this black scarf for Kevin - it's 8 feet long and quite comfy.

Next was a blue hat for Don and a black hat for Kevin to go with the scarf that I think he really doesn't want. I'll just have to keep it for myself.

Fleece - $2.99 a yard on Black Friday!! I couldn't pass it up and made these two tie blankies. The purple one is mine and the blue one is David's. They are so warm.

Happy Birthday Kathy!!

Hope you have a wonderful day and these slippers keep your feet cozy!

And yet more beanies...........

Kevin’s friend asked for a black beanie and then I couldn’t stop. I made the orange one on Halloween and then added a stem. The stem has since been removed.

Fall knitting

Meet Turkey Lurkey. His (her) pattern can be found here. What a GREAT way to use scraps.

My LYS was offering a needle felting class and I thought it sounded really interesting so I signed up. She taught us to make a pumpkin. It was so much fun making this with roving and a very very sharp (owie!!!) needle.

Basic beanies

Fall has fallen and I've been asked for three different colored beanies for Kevin's friends. I wonder how many more are in my knitting future.

It's a good thing that basic beanies are one of my favorite things to knit.

Crystal's Snood

Kevin's friend Crystal asked me to knit her a snood. A snood? Thankfully Crystal sent pictures of said snood and between the two of us we designed exactly what she wanted. I think she looks adorable in it.

The pattern can be found here.

iTunes on October 19

These hats have found a home.

Mandy's going through chemo. She posted on Facebook that she was looking forward to her hair growing back because her head was cold. I offered these two beanies that I made that had no home. I told her they weren't very feminine colors but she said that she loves brown. They are at the post office now waiting to go to their new home. I hope her cold head likes them.

Hats for Sailors

These two skeins of yarn will soon be turned into beanies for a couple of our servicemen or women. If you'd like to get involved, please take a look here.
