Fall Swap

I love these mittens, they're so cozy. It really is too bad they're not for me but I'm hopeful that my Fall swap recipient likes them. The pattern can be found here.

It was getting dark but how often do you see a full rainbow. We certainly don't see them in Southern California where it almost never rains.

Hot with a touch of humidity and the barest of rain outside.

WIP Wednesday

Wednesday right now means quilt class. I think we learn about bindings, borders, backing, and batting. It's a "B" day!!

Sunday, September 26, 2010

Kevin requested a green pig for his friend for her birthday. I am not a good pig maker so I had to come up with something quickly. She got a green alien. The blue one is a friend for my manicurist's daughter.

I am quite pleased as to how this baby sweater turned out. It's a surprise shower gift for a friend.

Panache Shawl

I love this shawl and I'm looking forward to Fall so I can wear it. It's so light and looks thin but it's surprisingly cozy. The pattern can be found here.

WIP Wednesday

The shawl is finished. It needs to be blocked and then I can cross another Christmas gift off my list.

AND

I've wanted to learn to make quilts for a long time. Last week was my first class. My homework was to cut all my squares. Tonight we learn to sew them together.

WIP Wednesday

I've always enjoyed seeing "Wordless Wednesday's" but have never contributed to it. I came across "WIP Wednesday's" this morning and loved the idea. Here's my first entry:

It's the beginning of a shawl that's going to be a Christmas present for someone who doesn't read my blog (thankfully).

Berry Picking!!

My son had never been berry picking so I couldn't let another summer go by without him knowing how much fun it was.

He had a GREAT time and he found out that he likes raspberries. Next thought....... what to do with them.

Scarves!!

If I have to choose a favorite, it's the blue one.............
............ but wait, look at those pretty ruffles on the black one.

The black one was so much fun to knit and took no time at all. I'd seriously consider knitting another.

The blue one is so feminine.

I can't decide, I love them both.

Details can be found here.

Welcome CJ!!!

I love surprise baby showers. Mona has been an online friend for many years and it's been so much fun to be a part of her life. She has been wanting and waiting for a new grand-baby for so long and in one more month, Cale James (CJ) will be born.

Congratulations Mona!!!

Beatrice

I was cleaning up my knitting area and came across a few WIP's. There were some mittens that I'll probably never finish, a pair of socks that I may finish some year, and this bug puppet. I had the body almost complete so I picked it up and finished it. For now she is mine. Maybe someday she'll belong to a grandchild (10 years or so from now).

Christmas already?

I know it's only May.
I know Christmas isn't for 7 more months.
I do know these things but............

I was looking through my stash the other day and came across three skeins of bulky yarn. I looked at them and thought scarf. Then I thought, but for who. Kathy!! She lives in Oregon. I knit for her every Christmas and she wears scarves. She doesn't read my blog so I'm safe posting this.

Let's hope I don't forget where I put it. Is it too early to start a Christmas area in my closet?

Autumn's Bat

As long as Kevin has friends I will never run out of knitting. Autumn saw some of my knitted animals and told me she LOVED bats and would I please make her one.

Introducing Boo #4.

Autumn was so happy when I gave it to her.

There's nothing better than knitting for someone who appreciates it.

Bunny #4

On Mother's Day an online friend found out she was pregnant. I needed a quick congratulations gift and since these bunnies are so easy...........

CONGRATULATIONS REBECCA!!!

Sarah's Dishcloths

I don't like asparagus but Sarah makes the most amazingly incredibly awesome pickled asparagas and I'm addicted to them. The problem, she lives in Oklahoma. Thankfully her mom goes and visits once a year and brings some home for me. This year I got a bonus and she was coming out for a visit. We decided on a trade. Dishcloths for asparagus. The first picture of five is my payment. The second two are on their way to her now as a down-payment on the next batch.

Thanks again Sarah.............. yummmmmmmmm!!!

Calais

I saw this shawl and fell in love with it. I knew the pattern would show up better with a solid color but this yarn was calling to me from my stash and who am I to not listen when my yarn is calling me.

The border was so easy and Dona had been asking for a new dishtowel so here's my Calais inspired dishtowel.
See how pretty that border stitch is in a solid color. Just beautiful.

Special Olympics 2011

Two scarves for 2011 Special Olympics. Details here if you're interested.

Knitting with beads

I have always wanted to knit something with beads so when some online knitting friends suggested we do a KAL with these mitts I jumped right on the bandwagon. Knitting with beads is even more fun (why can't funner be a word) than I expected and I love how they came out.

Afghan for Karen

My friend Karen's husband Jimmie has a very aggressive form of cancer that he's in treatment for.

A wonderful lady named Sheri in one of Karen's Yahoo groups decided that we should send her an 11x11 square and she'd combine them all as a gift to Karen. What an honor to be included in such a project. I wish I could be there with Karen when she opens the afghan.

Wendy called last night requesting yet another bunny. Her old (previous, not age) babysitter is having a baby girl next month. I had lavender on hand so here is bunny #3 for Wendy.

I have said it before........ this is an amazing pattern for a quick baby gift. I started and finished it last night.

Sewing is not what I do.......

..........but when I saw the pattern for these guys in the Joann's catalog I fell in love. The purple one is for me and the green one is a thank you gift for Dona's mom. She feeds us Corned Beef & Cabbage every year for St. Patrick's Day. I think a green monster is a great thank you gift.

I love easy and fast projects

Wendy called me after work today and asked me for another bunny for a baby gift. These bunnies work up so fast. I finished him a few hours later. :-)

This doesn't look like Easter to me.........

..... but it is an Easter gift. In an Easter Swap my partner said she loved this shawl and these are two of her favorite colors. Even if it's not Eastery it's what she likes and I think that's more important.

Striped Scarf for me

I wanted to use up a bunch of yarn and thought this scarf would be a great use for it. I love the way it came out.

My friend Wendy asked me to make a baby "thing" for a friend at work who was having a baby. This was easy and fun.

Valentine Knitting Part 2

And for Kathy, she gets this very large heart dishcloth. Knitting dishcloths are always so much fun. Immediate gratification - woooooooohooooooooo!!!
